Regenerative Medicine

What is regenerative medicine?

Regenerative medicine is a form of medicine that aims to heal damaged tissue as well as provide relief from symptoms and pain. In practice, Dr. Patel takes cells like your own platelets or amnion proteins and injects them into your body to encourage healthy regeneration and healing in your own cells and tissues.

What is PRP?

PRP treatments use a sample of your own blood, which is treated to create a solution of plasma and platelets. This solution is injected directly into your body to flood a specific area with the nutrients and proteins needed for cellular and tissue repair.

PRP injections also stimulate your body’s natural healing response and flood the area with growth factors which increase the production of cells and improve the resiliency of cartilage.

The whole PRP process takes 2-3 hours from drawing samples of your blood through recovery time. You won’t need any additional recovery time following the treatment. However, Dr. Patel uses this treatment to address physical injuries, muscles and tissues weakened after surgery, so you still need to follow his recovery advice for the condition the PRP is treating.

What conditions does regenerative medicine treat?

Dr. Patel uses amniotic allografts to treat patients with a variety of injuries and degenerative conditions. These treatments can be particularly helpful if you experience tendonitis as it not only helps your body to grow new cells and repair itself, but also reduces inflammation, which is often responsible for the pain associated with this condition.

Dr. Patel may also use amniotic allografts to treat joint degeneration or arthritis. The treatments help your body to repair your cartilage and keep existing tissue healthy and supple.
